There
are a variety of volunteer opportunities for the week of
Monday, July 28th through Saturday, August 2nd,
2008.
TO SIGN UP AS A VOLUNTEER:
-
View the "WEEK-AT-A-GLANCE" schedule below for specific
volunteer duties;
-
Complete the
Volunteer Form above.
-
Complete the
Code of Conduct and
Adult
Release Form.
- Indicate if you will
require meals.
- Indicate if you will
need dorm room accomodations.
- Specify your T-Shirt
size. (Shirts will be in standard men's sizes.)
- Return all requested
forms to Kris Graham-Chavez or call (602)280-8842 to
sign up.

ONCE YOU SIGN UP:
- You
will be notified by our Volunteer Coordinator on meeting
time and place

A briefing will be scheduled for all volunteers (to be
arranged)
- Meals
will be provided; depending on shift time
-
A volunteer t-shirt will be provided for you to wear
during your shift

Monday, July 28, 2008:
-
Registration Set up: tables and chair set up (morning)
and breakdown (evening)*

Organizing meeting
rooms for hospitality and administration; table set up
(Should this occur on Saturday and Sunday?)*

Team Trading: arranging tables and chairs; set up
(morning)
and breakdown (late evening)*
-
Team Trading and Ice-Cream Social: monitors (evening and
late evening)
-
Hospitality Room Host (morning, afternoon, evening, or
all day)
-
Opening Ceremony: door monitors (evening)
- Assist in setting
five ecostations prior to training day with all provided
supplies*
- Assist in setting
five ecostations prior to testing day with all provided
supplies*
Site Coordinators: to direct teams to the
Registration Room from the bus and parking areas; and to
direct teams from Registration to the Dorms (morning and
afternoon)

Runners: 2 on call volunteers; runners; copies; etc.
(morning, afternoon, or evening; prefer someone who can
stay all day)
Tuesday, July 29, 2008:
-
Bus Monitors: to check in teams and ride on buses from
NAU to the training site (morning and afternoon)
-
Training Site set up (morning); and Training Site tear
down (evening to late evening)*
-
Tour Leaders: to accompany tour attendees on a tour,
provide some direction to bus driver on tour schedule,
and some visitor information to attendees regarding
general area information and natural resource
information, provide attendees with provided sandwiches
and snacks (1 afternoon tour and 2 all-day tours are
scheduled)

Testing Site Set up*
-
Serve as overnight
monitors for testing site (established campground area)
-
Hospitality Room Host (morning, afternoon, or evening,
or all day)
-
Site Coordinators to direct teams to Field House, Group
Photo area, and Presentation room
-
Runners: 2 on call volunteers; snack organizers;
runners; copies; etc. (morning, afternoon, or evening;
prefer someone who can stay all day)
Wednesday, July 30, 2008:
-
Bus Monitors: to check in teams and ride on buses from
NAU to the testing site (morning and afternoon)
-
Testing Site set up (morning); and Testing Site tear
down (evening to late evening)*
-
Tour Leaders: to accompany tour attendees on a tour,
provide some direction to bus driver on tour schedule,
and some visitor information to attendees regarding
general area information and natural resource
information, provide attendees with provided sandwiches
and snacks (1 afternoon tour and 2 all-day tours are
scheduled)

Hospitality Room Host (morning, afternoon, evening, or
all day)
-
Western Night Coordinators: bus leaders;
direct attendees from buses to dining hall; serving
tables; assist with bean bag toss; horseshoes; etc.
(evening, at dinner site in Flagstaff or Williams, site
not yet determined)
-
Runners: 2 on call volunteers; snack organizers;
runners; copies; etc. (morning, afternoon, or evening;
prefer someone who can stay all day)
Thursday, July 31, 2008:
-
Bus Monitors and Site Coordinators for trip to the Grand
Canyon
(all day required); play games and provide snacks on
bus; and assist in site coordination and traffic flow at
the Grand Canyon
-
Dinner Set up: tables and chairs (afternoon to evening);
tear down (late evening)*
-
Mexican Fiesta Dinner Coordinators: direct attendees to
serving tables and help with flow
Friday, August 1, 2008:
-
Team Buddies: serve
as chaperone/escort during the oral preparation time and
dinner. There are three shifts available: 11:30
a.m.- 5:00 p.m.; 5:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m., or 11:30 a.m.-
10:00 p.m. (all day).

Snack Delivery:
distribute snacks to students for their sequestration
(afternoon or evening)
-
Tour Leaders: to
accompany tour attendees on a tour, provide some
direction to bus driver on tour schedule, and some
visitor information to attendees regarding general area
information and natural resource information, provide
attendees with provided sandwiches and snacks (these
tours are all day tours with one tour going to Phoenix
until late evening)
-
Hospitality Room Host
(morning, afternoon, evening, or all day)
- Runners: 2
on call volunteers; snack organizers; runners; copies;
etc. (morning, afternoon, or evening; prefer someone who
can stay all day)
Saturday, August 2, 2008:
-
Site Coordinators: to direct judges and volunteers to
registration rooms and judging rooms, etc. (morning or
afternoon, or all day)
-
Door monitors and Timekeepers for oral presentations
(morning and afternoon)
-
Oral Presentation Coordinator: collect all team
materials and bring to pre-determined area (morning or
afternoon, or all day)
-
Runners: for collecting score sheets during first round
of oral competition (morning)
-
Award Banquet Coordinators: direct attendees to tables,
and door monitors (evening)
-
Evening Social/Dance Coordinators: monitors for team
evening social (evening to late evening)
-
Runners: 2 on call volunteers; snack organizers;
runners; copies; etc. (morning, afternoon, or evening;
prefer someone who can stay all day)
